About Serenitas
Guiding philanthropy requires more than knowledge of charities. It requires insight into people, families, and organisations, as well as the ability to translate intentions into concrete action. Lotje De Ridder, founder of Serenitas, combines 20 years of expertise and experience in this regard.
Expertise that counts – She combines an academic background in development cooperation with years of practical experience as a project manager, fundraiser, and relationship manager for non-profit organisations in Belgium and abroad. Since 2022, Lotje has been advising philanthropists in Belgium and Europe, including as an expert for the King Baudouin Foundation.
Accredited mediator and certified coach Lotje is a recognised family mediator and has completed in-depth training in coaching and workshop techniques. She has a mastery of the full spectrum, from strategy and advice to facilitating difficult family conversations.
Rooted in practice – She founded an NGO in Costa Rica herself and led a social enterprise in Chile. That practical experience makes all the difference: Lotje understands both the human and the operational side of philanthropy.
A broad network for specific expertise – Philanthropy touches upon taxation, legal structures, wealth management, and much more. Where necessary, Lotje calls upon a broad network of specialised partners, ensuring you always receive the right guidance, even for the most specific questions.
Multilingual and international – Lotje works in Dutch, English, Spanish, and French — and is familiar with the international philanthropic sector.
”First and foremost, I listen to what is said and even more often to what is not said. In this way, I quickly understand what is really important to the person in front of me.
